Reporting Diversity: Promoting Inter-Community Dialogue and Social Inclusion

The purpose of this project was to establish a culture and forum among professionals in Morocco that will establish the structure and process of building awareness and capacity for greater social and cultural inclusion through responsible reporting on the country’s diversity.
Main project activities:
1/ Establishing a National Programme Advisory Board to foster Inclusive Reporting:
2/ Editors4Diversity’ Conferences - National Conferences on Reporting Diversity:
The project organised two national ‘Media and Democracy’ conferences in Rabat and London for media decision makers for discussion on responsible journalism, legal, ethical and financial reasons for inclusive reporting.
3/ Young Reporters’ Diversity Network:
The project organised three Inclusive Journalism workshops for young reporters in Rabat, Casablanca and Tangiers.
4/ Inclusive Reporting Curricula in Higher Education:
Academic Experts selected five proposals for graduate courses in Inclusive Journalism and develop, design and help teach Inclusive Journalism courses with their Moroccan colleagues.
5/ Advocacy Challenge for CSOs representing marginalised groups:
The project held two Media Relations Advocacy Workshops in Rabat and Casablanca aiming to help CSOs specialized in diversity issues, better understand journalists’ work and media culture, as well as ways to promote their own activities and therefore influence decision-makers.
