Donor Reporting for the Youth Media Initiative, Afghanistan
Projects-Direct.Net Ltd supported the project management of this project.
We worked with the Afghan non-profit youth magazine Faanoos in developing the project work plan, narrative and financial donor reporting and mentoring the Chief Executive.
This project ran fom 2011-2012. In the 12-month period the project has undertook the following activities.
The Center's Achievements in Numbers
• 1,620 YMI members (youth aged 11 to 35) – The target was 500 members.
• Seven courses held for citizen journalism
• Ten courses held for basic journalism
• 17 journalism courses held
• 116 participants for citizen journalism
• 210 participants for basic journalism
• 326 participants for journalism courses
• 270 graduates from journalism courses who received certificates
• Three international video conference held 1.Canada: – Participants 16 (both countries) 2. Netherlands: – Participants 16 (both countries) 3. USA: – Participants 12 (both countries
• 44 participants in the video conferences
• Two events/gatherings/celebrations held
• Celebration of World Youth Day 2011 700 participants in World Youth Day 2011 open event
• BBC live radio program on "September 11 and the foreign intervention from a child per-spective" with YMI Center's English speaking children: 16 participants
• 5,850 visits to the YMI library based on the logbook: (assumption that users signed the log book only two times in every 3 visits)
• 4,650 youth used our free internet service based on the logbook: (assumption that users signed the log book only two times in every 3 visits)
• Number of special talks by experts: 1
• Director of Media Watch Afghanistan discussed the role of media and importance and need of citizen journalism in Afghanistan. 23 participants
• Established the www.faanoos.af website
